DEPARTMENTAL HEAD - FOUNDATION PHASE THIS POSITION REQUIRES AN INNOVATIVE, FORWARD THINKING FOUNDATION PHASE EDUCATOR WHO WILL SERVE ON THE SCHOOL┬┐S SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE A PROVEN TRACK RECORD IN EDUCATION, BE AN ENTHUSIASTIC TEAM PLAYER WITH STRONG INTERPERSONAL SKILLS AND HAVE AN ASTUTE KNOWLEDGE OF 21ST CENTURY LEARNING DELIVERY AND CURRENT GLOBAL ACADEMIC TRENDS. THIS CANDIDATE┬┐S STRENGTHS WILL LIE IN GOOD VERBAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS AS WELL AS BEING VERY WELL ORGANISED, ENERGETIC, ANALYTICAL AND A RESULTS-DRIVEN LEADER. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD: BE PROFICIENT IN ENGLISH AS A FIRST LANGUAGE AND BE WILLING TO TEACH AFRIKAANS AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (BASIC ISIXHOSA WOULD BE AN ADDED ADVANTAGE); BE ABLE TO TEACH A CLASS WITHIN THE FOUNDATION PHASE (GRADE 1 TO 3); HAVE A PROVEN TRACK RECORD OF LEADING AND/OR WORKING COOPERATIVELY WITH A TEAM OF TEACHERS; HAVE A GOOD UNDERSTANDING AND WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF CAPS; HAVE THE ABILITY TO INTEGRATE ICT INTO THE CLASSROOM AND CURRICULUM IN A MEANINGFUL WAY (GOOGLE CLASSROOM/DRIVE, MICROSOFT); BE WILLING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BROADER LIFE OF THE SCHOOL AS WELL AS HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE VALUE OF EXTRA-MURAL PARTICIPATION; BE ABLE TO OFFER ONE OR MORE SUMMER AND WINTER EXTRA-MURAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED AT THE SCHOOL; BE ABLE TO OVERSEE LEARNING AND TEACHING SUPPORT MATERIALS (LTSM); HAVE THE PROVEN ABILITY TO OVERSEE AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DEPARTMENT BUDGETS; BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY WHEN REMEDIAL INTERVENTION IN THE FOUNDATION PHASE IS REQUIRED AND CHAIR INCLUSIVE MEETINGS; HAVE A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF IQMS AND BE ABLE TO OVERSEE THE PROCESS; HAVE A PROVEN RECORD OF POSITIVELY MANAGING CONFLICT AS WELL AS MENTORING AND DEVELOPING STAFF/INTERNS.
