To ensure on-going curriculum development and support to enhance quality teaching and learning practices by undertaking research, liaising with the Department of Basic Education and stakeholders, providing systemic support to subject teachers, to develop and implement the curriculum in accordance with provincial and national policy frameworks.

Appropriate three (3) year qualification in Education (REQV 13) in the relevant phase. Five (5) years teaching experience in Grade 10-12 with relevant subject/phase and proven success in teaching/ supporting the subject. Registration with SACE. A valid drivers licence.
The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the following tasks. Curriculum support at a systemic level. Establish a subject committee, network with the National Department of Basic Education and relevant stakeholders. Develop, facilitate and support special projects. Quality assure, mediate and moderate national and provincial assessment. Monitor and support CAPS policy implementation. Regularly evaluate and report on the state of the subject. Analyse and determine training needs for subject advisers and teachers and others working in schools. Develop training material, organise and conduct professional development workshops for teachers based on identified needs. Integration of e-Learning resources in teaching and learning. Develop, quality assure and upload digital resources to the WCED?s e-Learning platforms. Perform administrative duties such as compiling reports, respond to correspondence, write curriculum minutes and submissions, write tender specifications and manage procurement and payment processes. Provide support to the DCES. Maintain a current, accurate, informative and engaging website and mailing list for communicating and supporting teachers of the subject.
Thorough knowledge of: The content embedded within CAT. Relevant policies, circulars and regulations of the National Department of Basic Education and the WCED. Curriculum and assessment concepts, theory and principles. WCED?s e-Education vision and competencies and skills to develop, interpret and analyze curriculum and assessment matters.
Above-average verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Formal presentation and facilitation skills. Advanced computer literacy.
