A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience as an educator, must be in possession of a recognized three year (REQV13) qualification, which includes professional educator education. Registration as a professional educator with the South African Council for Educators. Valid drivers licence.
As a member of a transversal team, the incumbent will function as part of the district-Based Support Team, with the specific responsibility of providing transversal outreach services to special care centres (SCCs) and schools that include Learners with Profound Intellectual Disability (LPID). The incumbent's duties will include: - Planning, provision and supervision of a range of direct and indirect educational support services as outlined in the LSPID Conditional Grant Framework and Practice Note; - Using official data management system (SA-SAMS), tools and web-based platforms, such as SharePoint, to manage, track and capture services; - Monitoring and reporting on the learners progress; - Present training and capacity building on the Learning Programme (LP) for Learners with Profound Intellectual Disability (LPID) and programmes that support teaching of learning; - Implement, manage and supervise curriculum delivery and reporting in learning sites; - Manage educational intervention; and - Reporting and accounting on services rendered.
Knowledge and understanding of education legislation and policies especially Inclusive Education (White Paper 6, SIAS etc); In depth knowledge and understanding of assessment and intervention aimed at children with severe to profound intellectual disability; Curriculum Delivery for Learners with Profound Intellectual Disability; Data Management and Reporting Systems; Experience in working as part of a team and collaborating with stakeholders; Training and Capacity Building; Be able to take initiative, work under pressure and problem-solve
Adapted curriculum implementation, including the Learning Programme for Learners with Profound Intellectual Disability; Teamwork and Collaboration; Data Management and Reporting, including the use of SharePoint and the South African School Administration System (SA SAMS); Problem-solving and initiative; Communication and Training/Presentation Skills.
