To manage operational activities relating to the quality assurance of assessment in the General Education and Training (GET) and Further Education and Training (FET) bands. To implement assessment systems pertaining to all phases of curriculum delivery in Further Education and Training (FET) and ensure compliance to national and provincial assessment policies.

An appropriate recognised three - or four-year qualification, which includes professional teacher training. At least 5 years appropriate teaching experience or experience... in quality assurance of assessment in education. A valid driver's license. Registration with SACE. High level of proficiency in English and at least one other official language of the Western Cape
The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the following tasks: Improving the assessment system in the province including the development and writing of policy, rules and guidelines regarding assessment requirements, moderation, recording and reporting of learner performance and the utilisation of assessment data to inform teaching and learning and learner support strategies. Improving the credibility of assessment practices including the monitoring of the implementation of moderation plans at district- and school-level, monitor implementation of SBA, PATs and orals requirements as per the national programme of assessment, manage the provincial moderation strategy, support national and Umalusi marking and moderation activities, monitor and improve the marking moderation system. Develop information/ training sessions to inform and strengthen the practices of assessment at school level. Develop media to ensure the integrity in assessments and examinations and to inform assessment practices. Co-ordinate the monitoring of all assessment processes of internal assessments and the conduct of external assessments and examinations including the development of monitoring plans, monitoring tools, reporting templates, collation and quality assurance of reports and identify strategies to inform teacher support plans. Monitor the marking processes of external assessments. Support the process of learner attainment by reporting on the conduct of the assessment processes, the analysis of examination data and the trends identified in external monitoring reports. Monitor the implementation of progression principles and promotion criteria by co-ordinating audits of the process. Investigate examination and assessment irregularities in line with the required protocol and develop reports for the PEIC. Develop protocol for reporting by SAICs and DAICs.
Thorough knowledge of the South African Schools Act, Employment of Educators Act, National Curriculum Statement (CAPS, NPPPR, NPA), ATPs, SIAS and relevant policies, rules and guidelines that inform the current assessment regime. Regulations pertaining to the Conduct, Administration and Management of the National Senior Certificate exemptions, 2019.
