A recognized three year (REQV 13) qualification which includes professional teacher education. Registration with SACE as professional educator. A valid Driver's licence. 5 years relevant experience in the SEN/FET Phase.
Tourism
Facilitate and coordinate the implementation of the National Curriculum Statement in all Public Ordinary and Special Schools by training teachers on the National Curriculum Statement, monitoring teachers’ access to the National Curriculum Statement, monitoring and reporting on learners’ access to textbooks and DBE learner workbooks, advising, supporting and monitoring adherence to National Curriculum Statement requirements regarding allocated time per subject, ensuring that subject teachers have Annual Teaching Plans, ensuring that subject teachers are prepared to teach the subject content, ensuring that teachers have the necessary knowledge and skills to teach the subject content and ensuring ICT integration in the subject. Manage training and development of teachers by conducting training needs analyses, identifying teachers for training and development purposes in specific subjects within the district or at the CTLI, developing, presenting and facilitating targeted curriculum courses, preparing curriculum and other support materials necessary for quality education, conducting training through the district or sourced agencies, preparing summary reports based on programme evaluations, supporting the nomination of teachers for professional development and training as well as provincial and national teachers awards and monitoring and reporting on the efficacy of implementation of training interventions. Monitor, evaluate and support curriculum implementation within Public Ordinary and Special Schools by monitoring and evaluating implementation of the National Curriculum Statement in targeted schools, providing targeted classroom support where needed including co-teaching, demonstration, virtual lessons and e-lessons, ensuring productive pedagogies in classrooms, establishing and maintaining functional professional learning communities, strengthening Language Across the Curriculum, ensuring implementation of strategic national and provincial interventions, promoting efficient and effective utilisation of available resources, compiling reports based on school visits, providing feedback on corrective actions, advising, supporting and implementing learner attainment programmes and implementing relevant actions as stated in the District Improvement Plan. Manage moderation and assessment of curriculum implementation by moderating the implementation of the curriculum and school-based assessments through face-to-face, desktop or cluster moderation processes, providing oral and written feedback to teachers, departmental heads and principals, using moderation results to benchmark and set standards for new implementation, monitoring assessment practices throughout the year to inform promotion decisions, assisting with investigations of assessment appeals, assisting with monitoring of external assessments and analysing all internal and external systemic assessment results. Perform planning and administration functions by developing quarterly school visitation programmes, developing subject support plans for teachers, developing moderation plans for targeted schools, analysing results of all assessments and surveys, utilising information management systems such as EduInfoSearch and DMIS, writing reports for schools, district and province and performing financial planning, monitoring and reporting for the implementation of the curriculum per subject.
Knowledge and understanding of all relevant national and provincial legislation and policies, National Curriculum Statements including the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements, National Protocol for Assessment and national policy pertaining to programme and promotion requirements for Grades R to 12, national and provincial strategic plans, subject knowledge, teacher and materials development, language in education policies, ICT knowledge and information management and the organisational structure and operational model of the WCED.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical and report writing skills, computer literacy including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, facilitation and presentation skills, project planning and organising skills, monitoring, evaluation and development skills and financial planning skills.
